About thirteen persons have already collapsed under high temperatures at the Aliu Mahama Stadium where the 62nd independence celebrations are being held.

The individuals representing various security agencies at the parade grounds were carried at different points on stretchers off the field by First Aid officials on the ground.

Representatives of the Ghana Immigration Service, police service, the army, air force etc. have remained standing after the march-past as the various speeches are read.

Students of the respective schools which however took their turns marching were taken off the field shortly after the march.

Dignitaries including President of the Republic and Guest speaker, the Niger President are seen with fans trying to cool off with the heat in the area.

Though it got cloudy at the earlier stages of the march pass, temperatures currently can be pitched at approximately 39 degrees Celsius.

The Northern part of Ghana is known for relatively hot and dry temperatures compared to other parts of the country.

Persons including pupils from representing schools have however, prior to this, collapsed under the heat of the sun in previous parade exercises held in Accra on Independence day.
