A 13-year-old boy named Sherif has reportedly been killed in the Singnatinga-Posium area of Bawku township.
According to citinewsroom.com, the young boy died tragically while caring for his livestock near the old cattle market in Bawku.
The devastating incident adds to the ongoing violence in the area, bringing the death toll to 42 since October 2024.
Reports have stated that Sherif was grazing his animals in what was considered a relatively safe location when unknown attackers assaulted him.
The assailants reportedly killed him by snapping his neck and made away with his livestock.
The motive for the attack remains unclear, but it is believed to be linked to the ongoing conflict in the area, which has been marked by periodic violence stemming from territorial and ethnic disputes.
Meanwhile, Sherif's body has been transported to Kpalugu, a nearby suburb of Bawku, where he was buried in accordance with Islamic tradition.
