Francis Tawiah, a Junior High School (JHS) graduate alleged to have given a poisonous substance to his 14-year-old girlfriend to poison her father that led to the man’s death has been arrested at Adjeikrom near Begoro.

Tawiah, who was said to be in a relationship with the 14-year-old JHS pupil, was severally warned by the father to stop the relationship with his daughter.

Tawiah was alleged to have told the girl that the substance would make her father not to talk about their relationship anymore.

He is in police custody at the Juvenile cells at the Regional Police Headquarters in Koforidua.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Kwabena Gyamera-Yeboah, the Eastern Regional Police Commander, told the GNA that Tawiah denied giving a poisonous substance to her girlfriend leading to the death of her father.

Tawiah has been put before the juvenile court in Koforidua.

According to the Regional Commander Tawiah, who claims to be 17 years, said he completed JHS four years ago at Adjeikrom.

ACP Gyamera-Yeboah said he had therefore directed the investigating team to do a thorough check on Tawiah’s age by going to his former school to ascertain his real age.

The 14-year-old girl was arrested last week after her father’s death.

She confessed that Tawiah gave her a poisonous substance to put in her father’s food that would make him not to object to their relationship.

So on June 16 the girl dropped it in her father’s food and after eating the meal Mr Stephen Osiaw, the father, complained of abdominal pains and was taken to a clinic but was transferred to the Regional Hospital where he died.
