15-year-old jailed 20 years

Tarkwa, (W/R) Sept. 6, GNA - A Tarkwa Circuit Court on Monday sentenced a 15 year old labourer, Isaac Acquah, also known as Agya Adu to 20 years imprisonment in hard labour on his own plea for defiling a 12 year old pupil of the Anglican Primary school at Tamso near Tarkwa.

Police Chief Inspector Alex Asamoah prosecuting told the Court presided over by Mr. John Ajet-Nasam, that the victim lives with her parents at Senyakrom, near Tarkwa whiles the accused a labourer lives at ABA compound near Tamso.
Police Chief Inspector Asamoah said in July this year, the accused saw the victim selling iced-cream and invited her into his room under the pretext of buying some.
The prosecution said the accused locked the door when the victim entered and forcibly had sex with her.
He said the accused warned her not to disclose the incident to anybody otherwise she would get mad.
Police Chief Inspector Asamoah, said mother of the victim detected that her daughter did not have her menstrual period in August this year, she therefore, questioned her and the victim mentioned the accused as the one who defiled her.
He said the victim was sent to the hospital where it was revealed she was pregnant, the case was reported to the police who arrested the accused and after investigations charged with the offence.
