16-year-old kills herself because of love

A 16-year-old girl has killed herself after her parents prevented her from getting married to her lover at Akyem Aduasa in the Eastern Region.

Belinda Adjei drank poison because her parents after several threats from her, refused to accept Collins Kudjo, her lover.

She was immediately taken to the Oda Jubilee Hospital but died on arrival.

According to Chief Superintendent Sarfo Peprah, Oda Divisional Police Commander, Belinda threatened to kill herself if her parents do not allow her to marry Collins who is an apprentice (driver’s mate) learning the driving trade.

Collins Kudjo, 18, also decided to kill himself upon hearing the news of the demise of his Belinda.

He, however, survived and is currently responding to treatment at the Akyem Oda government Hospital.

According to Micheal Akrofie, Peace FM Eastern Regional Correspondent, Chief Superintendent Sarfo said the issue will be followed up, and has advised the parents to watch over their children especially in this modern time where technology is far advanced and children grow at a rapid stage.
