18-year-old unemployed arrested over alleged murder

The Agona Swedru District Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old unemployed over an alleged murder of a 29-year-old mason, Mr Isaac Arhin.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Paul Wesley Baah, Agona Swedru District Police Commander, made this known to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Agona Swedru.

He said the 18-year-old unemployed, Kodu Atsu Kodoh, the alleged murderer has been placed in Police custody waiting for the autopsy report of the deceased from the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

DSP Baah said on 28 December 2016, at about 1900 hours, a struggle ensued between the suspect and the deceased at Botwe Estate, a suburb of Agona Swedru.

He said during the struggle both of them allegedly fell down in the process and they were separated.

The Agona Swedru District Police Commander said on 29 December 2016, the deceased complained of severe pains in his neck and other parts of the body and was sent to Agona Swedru Municipal Government Hospital for treatment.

According to DSP Baah, the deceased health started deteriorating and he was referred to the 37 Military Hospital, where he died on 30 December 2016, while was on admission.

He stated that the body of the deceased has been deposited at the 37 Military Hospital Morgue awaiting the autopsy.

DSP Baah said the receipt of the post-mortem report of the deceased would determine which charge should be preferred against the suspected.
