Operation Stop Galamsey Taskforce at Dunkwa Offin has burnt 19 illegal mining machines known in the local parlance as (Toetoeto) in Offin River.
The machines were seized during their first operation at Upper Denkyira East of the Central Region.
The operation stop galamsey taskforce was formed by the Chief of Dunkwa Offin Obeng Nuako III with representations from the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), Minerals Commission, police, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Dunkwa Traditional Council to fight against illegal mining activities.
The Chief in an interview said, he supports efforts of government to clamp down on illegal mining and has entreated other Chiefs to join the fight.
