Dr. Kwabena Adjei, Minister of Lands and Forestry, has directed that Trade-Sense International and Noblewise (Ghana) Ltd., both log exporting companies be allowed to ship their logs.
A release issued by the Minster at the weekend said the directive was irrespective of measures announced last March to alleviate problems associated with the log exports trade.
It said a status report on the log pile received by the ministry on last Thursday state that Trade_Sense International berthef a ship on June 10
"The company has commended loading of the logs and is expected to load a total of 15,000m cubic metres to Korea by June 2.
"Noblewise (Ghana) Limited has already negotiated with the Ghana Timber Associated (GTA), and presented a contract to Forest Products Inspection Bureau (FPIB) for approval and is expected to present letters of credit by June 16"
The release said although the announcement in March empowered the FPIB to approve only contracts expiring on or before June15, " the ministry directs that the tw two companies, be allowed to complete the process of shipment of the logs which has reached advanced stage."
