2015 public service report reveals discrimination against women

Findings from a 2015 Public Service Report indicate a huge gap in gender parity among employees in the public sector.

Training opportunities are also biased towards male employees in the sector.

Speaking at the launch of the 2015 State of the Public Service in Accra, Chairperson for the Public Service Commission, Mrs. Bridget Katsriku said many public service institutions have no policies on gender discrimination.

Meanwhile the Commissioner of the Public Service Commission, Robertson Allotey, has played down the perception of politicization of the Public Sector.

According to him, the issue, which often borders on recruitment and appointments into the public sector is a constitutional mandate of the President.

He was speaking on the side lines of the launch of the 2015 State of the Public Service in Accra.

Deputy Director of GIMPA Professor Phillip Duku Osei said the element of politicization in the public sector is a perception.
