2018 best BECE candidate presents award to Prestea Huni -Valley MCE

Winifred Korangye Amoah, a former student of Bogoso Golden Star D/A JHS, has presented her award to the MCE of the area, Mozart Kwaku Owuh.

The 17-year-old, who is currently a student of Wesley Girls, Cape Coast emerged one of the 24-best graduating 2018 B.E.C.E students in Ghana and was awarded by President Akufo-Addo at this year’s “President’s Independent Day Awards,2019”.

Receiving the award, the MCE, Mr Owuh said, "I am indeed overwhelmed by the splendid performance of Winifred, and I want to assure her, the Assembly will give her any support she needs to make it to the top of the educational ladder".

He noted that, since he ascended to the position of Municipal Chief Executive, he has teamed up with her MP, Lawyer Barbara Oteng-Gyasi in helping improve education in the Municipality.

He enumerated the recently commissioned ultra-modern KG Block at Peterporm, provision of new Science Laboratory for both St. Augustine SHS and Prestea SHTS, as well as 12-Unit Classroom for Huni-Valley SHS. He also stated the provision of over 2000 dual desk provided for basic schools across the municipality.

“I recently provided the Municipal Director with a vehicle to be able to supervise education at he pre-tertiary institutions in my municipal” Mozart Owuh added. He reiterated the Assembly’s unflinching support to educational improvement in the Municipality.

The MCE further admonished parents to emulate the good example of Winifred’s parents, and support girl child education, especially in the municipality.

The Municipal Director of Education for Prestea Huni-Valley, Mrs. Mary Vida Kwofie encouraged schools in Prestea Huni-Valley to emulate the good example of Bogoso Golden Star D/A JHS.
