Sonrise, a relatively ‘unknown’ private Senior High School in Volta Region and debutants in the National Science and Maths Quiz have eliminated Kumasi gaints Opoku Ware School.
The Kumasi based Opoku Ware School who have won the coveted trophy twice in the past were hopeful of making it to the finals this time around only for Sonrise SHS to cut them short, 3 points shy.
The 3-team contest was between Sonrise SHS, Opoku Ware School and Berekum SHS at the University of Ghana Business School where the Annual academic contest is held.
At the end of the contest, Opoku Ware School managed 46 points, Berekum SHS 15 and the winner Sonrise SHS 49 points to proceed to the next stage of the competition.
“End of contest
Opoku Ware Sch: 46 points
Sonrise SHS: 49 points
Berekum SHS: 15 points
Congratulations Sonrise SHS!” The NSMQ team posted on social media.
Students of Opoku Ware School were seen shedding tears uncontrollably as the Quiz mistress bid them farewell out of the competition this year.
