Empoli midfielder, Afriyie Acquah has gone has admitted that Ghana’s qualification to the next Africa Cup of Nation wouldn’t come by mouth.
The hard-tackling midfielder says playing Sierra Leone wouldn’t come so easily and that the Black Stars will only have to put in much effort to cushion victory their victory over the Leone Stars on Thursday at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Kenya beat Ghana 1-0 in Nairobi last month to split the group wide open making the Sierra Leone clash a difficult task.
Speaking to the media in Kumasi after Ghana’s first training session on Monday, Acquah said the playing body would need above 100% performance to enable them get all three points.
“If in our last game we gave 100% which we ended up losing to Kenya, in this encounter, we are playing at home and we need to give out more than 100% so that we can win,” Acquah said.
“Everyone is doing well at his club level. If anyone is called upon there wouldn’t be any problem.
“Selection will only be based on hard work and training regiment.
“We will definitely qualify but it wouldn’t come by mouth. That’s why we need to work hard to achieve that.”
