National Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku has assured Ghanaians of a better economy next year under the Akufo-Addo administration.
According to him, though the government has stabilized the economy after inheriting a crippling economy from the erstwhile Mahama administration, the best is yet to come because there are more social intervention projects and initiatives that will be rolled out by President Nana Akufo-Addo in 2019 to ease the economic pressures on the Ghanaian citizenry.
He was optimistic of the prospects for next year saying “we’re confident 2019 will be better and will be good for the Ghanaian people”.
Also touching on the opposition NDC Presidential primaries in January, 2019, Sammy Awuku believed the 2020 Presidential race will be a smooth ride for the NPP because the NDC will elect former President John Dramani Mahama in their primaries to lead the them in another battle against the current administration.
To him, the former President has already set a track record which will be played back to him prior to the 2020 elections.
Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'kokrokoo', Sammy Awuku noted that he expects the former President to have a 90 percent landslide victory but should he not, then “he should be worried. Why because, when you look at his political journey, he has gone through every phase. He appointed 5000 people plus into positions”.
He however wished the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) great luck ahead of their Presidential primaries next year.
“NPP will wish the NDC luck but we won’t wish them a success,” he said.
