Executives and section of members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti region are bemoaning the continuous stay in office of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Mary Boatemaa Marfo.
They disclosed that the party on a daily basis is becoming very unpopular in the area and the earlier President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo takes a decision on the matter, the better for the fortunes of the party in 2020.
According to some of the executives who spoke to MyNewsGh.com, it is increasingly becoming clearer that the DCE as a result of her inactions has plunged the party in disarray creating sharp divisions among the ranks.
“We were more united in the run-up to the 2016 elections and thereafter. Soon after her appointment and subsequent assumption of office, things started taking a nosedive and we fear it could get worse”, they bemoaned.
They cite alleged financial malfeasance in the award of contracts, evacuation of some refuse dumps and the creation of “ghost schools and ghost caterers” to receive unmerited payments from the Ghana National School Feeding Programme among others as some decisions that do not augur well for the NPP.
As a result, they have warned a section of the members of the Sekyere East District Assembly who called themselves “concerned assembly members” to desist from shielding the DCE from public scrutiny or they have themselves to blame this September 2019, when the district level elections would be conducted.
