The Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, visited some centres for the ongoing 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the nation's capital, Accra.

In a post shared on Facebook on Tuesday, Dr. Adutwum shared an update on his visit to the BECE centres he visited.

The minister was impressed with the smooth running of the examination at all the centres he visited, together with a team from his ministry.

He was particularly impressed with measures put in place by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to curb examination malpractices.

"I am pleased to share that I visited the Accra College of Education Demonstration A and B School to monitor the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). This year, 569,095 candidates are writing the exams at 2,123 centres nationwide. I had the opportunity to witness the participation of 8 schools at this particular centre.

"I commend WAEC for its significant progress in curbing examination malpractices. The Education Ministry is committed to continuing our collaboration with WAEC and other stakeholders to eliminate exam malpractice in our country," he wrote.

Dr. Osei Adutwum, who is also the Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe, was pleased with WAEC's serialisation of exam questions.

"I am thrilled to announce the success of the serialization of exam questions, an initiative that began three years ago. I wish all candidates the best of luck and encourage them to work diligently to succeed," he added.

The 2024 BECE which started on Monday, July 8, 2024, is expected to end on Monday, July 15, 2024.
