Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Peter Mac Manu, has stated that a possible defeat for the ruling party in the ongoing elections will be an opportunity for reflection and assessment.

Speaking in an interaction with ChannelOne News, Mac Manu noted that elections are either won or lost, and the NPP will return to the drawing board and analyze what went wrong should they lose the 2024 polls.

"It is two things, you either win or lose. We have been into elections and lost before, so what is it? It is for us to retreat, go back and look at what went wrong, do a post-mortem and stuff like that, which is something we do always anyway."

"It is a big deal because we went into the election to win, but I am saying if it doesn't happen. Political parties are not always meant to win elections. This is not a communist country."

Counting and results declaration are currently underway following the closure of polls across most of the polling centres in the country.

The 2024 elections was held across 276 constituencies in the country, with the process being largely peaceful. Pockets of violence have, however, been recorded, with one person confirmed dead in the Tolon Constituency in the Northern Region.

The EC has meanwhile urged Ghanaians and political parties to exercise patience as they execute their mandate of delivering a successful election.
