Renowned Kumawood actor Alexander Adu Kofi, popularly known as Agya Koo, has criticised National Democratic Congress (NDC) communicator Edem Dela over derogatory remarks made about former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
In a video shared on X on November 19, 2024, Agya Koo asserted that the NDC would lose the upcoming 7 December election due to Delaโs comments about the former president.
"We all recently heard a statement made by a member of the NDC insulting former President John Agyekum Kufuor. President Kufuor is the one who brought democracy into the country. He is the one who also discovered oil in the country. When he even brought some to parliament, our brothers from the NDC said it was a palm kernel, but this same oil is fetching Ghana money.
"Berma! You know no what life holds for you, but you sit on TV and insult a nobleman like this? NDC is going to lose this election miserably, and nothing will save them," he said.
Agya Koo, a vocal supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), also praised former President Kufuor for the impactful policies he introduced during his tenure.
"Former President John Agyekum Kufuor also brought the free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) into the country. He also brought a policy where women can give birth without being charged," he added.
Background
Edem Dela, an NDC communicator, recently made unsavoury remarks during a discussion on Accra-based TV XYZ, suggesting that Kufuorโs current health issues were a result of his decisions as president.
His comments came after Kufuor endorsed Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the NPPโs presidential candidate.
Delaโs remarks have since been widely condemned by Ghanaian politicians, including members of the NDC.
