Scores of supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tema West Constituency have stormed the Collation Centre at Tema Secondary School demanding for the release of the election results.

Nearly ten hours after voting ended, the EC is yet to declare the results of the elections in the various constituencies.

Both the NDC and the NPP, in their respective press conferences earlier, asked their members to move to the various collation centers to protect their ballots.

But the Electoral Commission in a press conference around 3:00am urged the leadership of various political parties, especially the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), to direct their members to leave the collation centers across the country.

According to Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chairperson of the EC in-charge of Operations, this will allow them to freely carry out the collation and announcement of results.

Counting at polling stations have concluded following the closure of polls at 5 p.m. What is left is the declaration of results at the various constituencies.

The 2024 elections were conducted across 276 constituencies nationwide, with the process being largely peaceful.

However, isolated incidents of violence have been reported, including the confirmation of two deaths in the Tolon Constituency in the Northern Region and Awutu Senya East Constituency in the Central Region.

The Electoral Commission has urged Ghanaians and political parties to exercise patience as it fulfills its mandate of delivering a successful election.
