The former Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, has raised the need to invite the Inspector General of Police and the Minister of the Interior to brief Parliament on the preparedness and deployment of security personnel to supervise the 2024 elections.

"Mr. Speaker, we have crucial parliamentary and presidential elections on 7 December.

"It’s not just the Electoral Commission; the IGP, together with the Interior Minister, must also come to this House because MPs will be in their constituencies to battle for their seats and the presidency during recess. Therefore, they must address us on their readiness," he said.

The Tamale South legislator indicated that the Electoral Commission should let Parliament know its financial requirements for the conduct of the general elections before the mid-year budget review.

This will help the House to know if the government, through the Ministry of Finance, has met the financial requirements of the Commission.
