Movement for Change leader, Alan Kyerematen
The independent presidential candidate and leader of the Movement for Change (MFC), Alan Kyerematen is calling on Ghanaians, ahead of the December 7 elections, to prioritise substance over the statements and soundbites commonly found in the manifestoes of the two leading political parties in the country.
He emphasised that in other parts of the world, the focus during elections is on substantive issues, but in Ghana, people often place undue importance on manifestoes, which are often seen as mere documents rather than practical guides for national development.
He pointed out that these manifestoes frequently lack substance, yet they are widely regarded as essential for the country’s progress.
This is why, according to him, when these parties assume power, they often fail to implement many of the promises and statements made in their manifestoes.
These statements, he argued, are made without real substance, which explains the parties' inability to follow through on their commitments.
The former Minister for Trade and Industry made these remarks during a media briefing in Accra, where he introduced the details of the Great Transformational Plan (GTP).
He urged Ghanaians to move beyond sensationalism and focus on substance, which he believes is encapsulated in the GTP—a blueprint for the country’s transformation.
He described the GTP as a plan that promises growth, stability, and prosperity if he is elected in the December 7, 2024, elections.
He further asserted that the GTP is the new "Bible" for Ghana's development, while criticising his competitors for making unrealistic promises, knowing full well that the country’s economy cannot support them.
