The Director of Programmes at the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Dr. Imurana Mohammed, has called on the Ghana Armed Forces to diligently work at ensuring a violence-free 2024 election.

He emphasized the critical role of the security agency in the success of the pending elections, urging them to remain alert in their responsibilities.

Addressing the Ghana Armed Forces, Dr. Imurana cautioned against political manipulation that could lead to disorder and potential violence.

"Today our interaction is with the Ghana Armed Forces. Don't let your guard down. Elections will come and go, but we have a nation to protect. We have a country to preserve. Despite all the challenges, we can't achieve our goals if our country is destabilized. We can't achieve development without peace. If you don't have a president, your parliament is dissolved, and the independence of the judiciary is compromised.

"And all this power is concentrated in one person or a small group. That's when you know your country is at risk. When the state is destabilized, external support may come in the form of financial aid and so on. However, the long-term viability of such regimes and their capacity to provide basic life necessities to the populace are questionable," he stated.

In the meantime, political parties are gearing up for the elections scheduled for December 7, 2024.
