Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), the vice presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party, has stated that the 2024 elections present Ghanaians with a chance to determine the future direction of the country.

Speaking during his visit to the Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III, in Koforidua, NAPO underscored the cruciality of the upcoming elections, noting that the outcome of the polls will have a significant impact on the future state of the country.

NAPO claimed that in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP and John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress, Ghanaians have a choice between light and darkness.

The light, he surmises, is Dr. Bawumia, who he reckons has the right economic brain and policies to advance the progress of the country.

According to him, voting for John Mahama will have dire consequences on the future of the country, as he believes that Mahama did not distinguish himself greatly when he was president of the country.

“It is clear that the 2024 elections are between light and darkness. Those who like darkness will opt for it, but those of us who like the light will vote for light. We have two candidates, one of whom has been president before. At the time of his reign, he told us he couldn’t supply us with consistent light.

“For four years, we lived in darkness, so if you want to vote for dumsor, I have shown you the way. In the eight years of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, we have been enjoying consistent electricity supply. He canceled teaching and nursing trainee allowances, so if you vote for him again, he will cancel it,” he said.

NAPO also appealed to chiefs and traditional rulers to take an active interest in the governance process and offer guidance and direction to him and Dr. Bawumia.

NAPO, who prides himself as a royal, stated that Dr. Bawumia, who he claims is also a royal, fully appreciates the role of traditional authorities in the NPP and will therefore plead with them to offer their rich wisdom and experience to them.

“We are here to show ourselves to the chiefs and elders to seek their blessings, directions, and guidance on how to navigate the campaign process. The December elections are for the future of the country,” he said.
