2025 AFCON Qualifiers: We are waiting for CAF’s decision after stadia inspection – GFA boss Kurt Okraku

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) are waiting for the verdict of the Confederations of African Football (CAF) following their inspection of Accra and Cape Coast stadia for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

Officials from CAF inspected the two stadia over the weekend following a request by the Ghana FA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium, which hosted Ghana's last game against Angola, has been banned by CAF "due to the poor quality of the pitch."

At the #SaveGhanaFootball probe before Parliament's Sports Select Committee on Monday, September 30, Kurt Okraku, the president of the Football Association, said that the final decision now rests with CAF.

“Mr. Chairman, we are waiting for CAF,” he said.

“We have done the hard work, we are waiting for CAF. The experts within us have been there and I would say that I will not comment on their report to me.

“I will wait for CAF to speak.”

The Black Stars come up against Sudan in a doubleheader later this month. Ghana will face Sudan at home on Friday, October 11, at a yet-to-be-named venue before heading to Libya for the return match at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Monday, October 14.

Ghana suffered a 1-0 defeat to Angola before a 1-1 draw against Niger, leaving them third in Group F with just one point.
