Some Members of Parliament have started arriving in Parliament for the 2025 Budget reading by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, as the Chamber of Parliament is readied for the highly-anticipated event.

Early videos captured by GhanaWeb show some lawmakers already in the Chamber, awaiting the arrival of others.

Among the lawmakers seen in the chamber is the Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, who was engaged in conversations with some media personnel.

Other guests and dignitaries have also been spotted, with many more expected to arrive soon.

The budget presentation aligns with Article 179 of the 1992 Constitution and Section 21(3) of the Public Financial Management Act 2016 (Act 921).

As the first budget reading of the current government, the presentation will serve as an opportunity for the government to update both Parliament and citizens on its economic progress, as well as outline any necessary adjustments to budgetary allocations and policies.

Meanwhile, the 2025 Budget, dubbed the ‘Asempa’ budget, is expected to announce the abolishment of several nuisance taxes, including the E-Levy and the Betting Tax, among others.
