The Abuakwa South Municipal National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) Secretariat has joined forces with Bunso Eco Park in the Eastern Region to ensure a safe and secure environment for visitors throughout the upcoming festive season.

The collaboration, announced following an assessment visit by NADMO officials on December 10, 2025, includes the deployment of NADMO personnel to the park on a 24-hour basis to prevent potential disasters and manage crowds.

Speaking during the assessment visit, Aikins Ofori, head of the Abuakwa South Municipal NADMO Secretariat, confirmed that the team had reviewed the park’s operational guidelines and staff preparedness.

“After touring the facility and evaluating their systems, we’ve developed a clear strategy to enhance safety. Our personnel will be stationed at Bunso Eco Park during the yuletide period to mitigate risks, including crowd-related incidents and emergencies,” Ofori stated.

He emphasised that the 24-hour NADMO presence will focus on disaster prevention, rapid response to any incidents, and crowd management to ensure visitors can enjoy the park’s offerings without risk.

Kenneth Asare Frempong, Facilities Manager of Bunso Eco Park, expressed gratitude for the collaboration.

“We already have robust safety measures in place, but NADMO’s support significantly strengthens our readiness. This partnership is a welcome addition as we anticipate a high volume of visitors during the holidays,” Frempong noted.

He added that visitors will receive detailed briefings on park guidelines upon entry, particularly ahead of scheduled entertainment activities.

Frempong also highlighted ongoing coordination with local security agencies across the municipality to further bolster safety protocols.

Bunso Eco Park, originally established as the Bunso Arboretum in 1935, is renowned for its rich biodiversity, featuring over 600 plant species, medicinal herbs, and vibrant wildlife.

The park, a popular ecological and adventure destination, offers attractions such as a canopy walkway, zipline, horseback riding, swimming pool, and a host of recreational activities for families and nature lovers.

Asare Frempong urged the public to visit the park during the festive season, assuring them of the combined efforts to maintain a secure atmosphere.

“With the festive season upon us, we encourage everyone to enjoy Bunso Eco Park’s unique environment and activities, safe in the knowledge that we have your safety as a priority,” he said.

The partnership underscores a proactive approach to disaster risk reduction and public safety, setting a benchmark for similar collaborations in Ghana’s tourism and recreational sectors.
