The 2026 TGMAs will be held on May 9
Organisers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards TGMAs, Charterhouse Productions has announced that the 27th edition of the annual event will now be held at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
This comes after the event had initially been scheduled for the Palms Convention Centre at the La Palm Royal Beach Resort.
The confirmation, contained in a press release dated Tuesday, May 5, 2026, brings the awards back to its ‘home’ of 6 years, with Charterhouse describing the Grand Arena as purpose-built to support the dynamic staging, broadcast, and audience engagement requirements that define the ceremony.
"The move to the Grand Arena reflects the evolving scale and production ambition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards. With its expansive capacity, advanced technical infrastructure, and enhanced production flexibility, the Grand Arena offers the ideal environment to deliver the world-class experience that audiences have come to expect," the statement read.
The development comes as a relief to all stakeholders, given that Charterhouse's own Head of Public Events and Communications, Robert Klah, had been open about the venue issues since April 2026.
Klah had revealed that the Grand Arena's availability was not guaranteed, with its owners having their own plans for the space, forcing organisers to draw up a contingency plan around the Palms Convention Centre.
"The crux of the matter is that the owners want their place… whatever they want to use it for, it's within their space to use it," Klah had said at the time.

He had also stressed that the Palms option, with a capacity of roughly 2,000, was never the ideal choice.
"Plan B was the Palms Convention Center, but it is not the most suitable place. But if we create the kind of stage we create at the Grand Arena, it won't work," he had explained.
Klah had however maintained that organisers never lost hope of returning to the Grand Arena, and that outcome has now materialised.
Charterhouse expressed gratitude to headline sponsor Telecel Ghana, the sector ministry, the Government of Ghana, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their support in securing the venue.
