Jordan Ayew urges teammates to step up and show their quality
Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has urged his teammates to be ready and show their quality against their group opponents ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Ghana is among the record ten African countries that will represent the continent in the 23rd edition of the Mundial in North America.
The four-time African champions have been housed in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.
Having been held to a 1-1 draw against Wales at Cardiff City Stadium, Ayew has encouraged his teammates to be ready and show their quality heading into the tournament.
"We have to prove ourselves, and we have to show that we have quality, and we have to be ready for the challenge," he told FIFA.
"We all know it's going to be difficult, but we are ready. Obviously, I know people don't think that we will do well, so that is good," the former Leicester City forward added.
The Black Stars, who have arrived in the USA, will open their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, before facing England at Gillette Stadium on June 23 and concluding their group fixtures against Croatia on June 27.
Ghana will wrap up their preparations with a final warm-up match against Jamaica scheduled for June 10.
