Residents of Awate in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region will benefit from a free community health outreach as part of the 2026 World Kidney Day Celebration scheduled for Thursday, March 12, 2026.

The event, themed “Kidney Health for All: Caring for People, Protecting the Planet,” aims to increase awareness about kidney disease, promote early detection, and encourage preventive healthcare practices within underserved communities.

Organised in collaboration with Nephro Ghana, Firm Health Ghana Foundation and GhanaWeb, the outreach will run from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm at Awate, serving surrounding communities including Awate Todzi, Awate Agame, Awate Dzifadze, and Awate Tornu.

Free Health Screening Services

Participants will receive free onsite medical screening services including:

● Blood Urea and Creatinine testing (kidney function assessment)

● Blood Glucose testing

● Blood Pressure checks

Healthcare professionals will also provide education on kidney disease prevention, risk factors such as hypertension and diabetes, and practical lifestyle measures to support long-term kidney health.

Addressing a Growing Health Concern

Chronic kidney disease remains a growing public health concern in Ghana, often linked to unmanaged hypertension and diabetes. Early detection through routine screening significantly improves treatment outcomes and reduces complications.

This initiative seeks to bridge gaps in access to preventive healthcare by bringing essential diagnostic services directly to the community.

Community Impact and Partnerships

The 2026 celebration is supported by strategic partners including Smart Innovations Ghana Limited, Donsey’s Kitchen and other sponsors committed to improving health outcomes through collaboration and community engagement.

We are encouraging residents within the North Dayi District and surrounding areas to take advantage of the free screening opportunity and to prioritize routine health checks as part of preventive care.

For further information, community members are advised to contact the organizers ahead of the event date.
