The family of a 22-year-old is seeking justice after he was stabbed multiple times during an argument at Lower Bobikuma in the Agona West municipality in the Central Region.
According to reports, the victim who has been identified as Nana Yaw tried to settle an argument between the suspect and one other person.
The suspect who is reported to be an ex-convict angrily followed the victim while on his way home and stabbed him multiple times on his chest, cheek, ribs, and the back of his shoulder for trying to settle the argument.
The victim was quickly rushed to the hospital for urgent medical treatment. Residents are reportedly afraid to apprehend the suspect because of his criminal record.
Speaking to Adom FM in an interview monitored by GhanaWeb, the brother of the victim, Prince Quansah narrated the incident saying “there was an argument between one of our friends and the suspect. Nana Yaw [victim] tried to intervene and settle the argument but they didn’t stop. On his way home, we saw one guy following him and we didn’t even know he had a knife on him. He started stabbing him [the victim] so we told him to run but the guy kept on chasing after him, stabbing him multiple times.”
The victim's sister, Mary Odum, has appealed to the Inspector General of Police to arrest the suspect and prosecute him for this atrocity.
“I'm appealing to him to take up this matter. The kind of injury that has been inflicted on my brother is serious. All relevant persons and institutions should also speak up about this matter if not we don’t know what will happen.
“He has fled after committing the crime, and his whereabouts are unknown, so we are begging authorities to arrest him. He has been to jail three times, and this is the kind of behaviour he exhibits, constantly committing crimes in the area. Each time he is jailed, he gets released,” she appealed.
