23 Injured in Cape-Coast-Takoradi highway accident

More than 23 passengers involved in a road crash along the Cape Coast-Takoradi highway in the early hours of Thursday July 14 are in critical condition, ClassFMonline.com can confirm.

The accident happened at about 3:30am Thursday between a military ambulance with registration number 42GA-57 and a Mercedes Benz Sprinter, also with registration number ER 1219-14 collided.

Confirming the incident in an interview with Prince Minkah, host of the Executive Breakfast Show (EBS) on Class91.3FM, Chief Superintendent Felix Cosmos, the Commander of the Cape Coast Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), narrated: “It was around 3:30am this dawn that I had a call that an accident has occurred, so I immediately dispatched men to the scene.

“It happened precisely on the outskirts of Komenda Sefwi, more than 20 kilometers from Cape Coast and it involves a military ambulance with registration number 42GA-57 which was from Accra towards Takoradi and a Mercedes Benz Sprinter bus with registration number ER 1219-14 loaded with passengers from Takoradi heading towards Accra.

“It was a head-on collision so, at the time that we got to the scene all the injured had been conveyed to Takoradi and the Central Regional Teaching Hospital respectively.”

He added: “Our information was that some (victims) are in critical condition and we are now making follow-ups to the respective hospitals to visit those who got injured.”
