24 NPP aspirants vie for Ayawaso West Wuogon seat – John Boadu

Twenty-four (24) people of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are set to vie for the Late Hon. Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko’s vacant seat at Ayawaso West Wuguon constituency following his death.

Pressure is mounting on the National Executives of the party to allow a particular candidate to stand as Parliamentary candidate in the upcoming by-elections.

According to the General Secretary of the NPP, Mr. John Boadu, the leadership of the party will do what is right and in the interest of the party to ensure that it recaptures the seat., adding that 24 contestant have so far expressed interest.

Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Programme, he explained that the National executive committee (NEC) of the party will meet today to decide on the way forward.

“The party does not have process for bye-election in the constitution so we will have to meet and then discuss what we will have to do.”

“Nonetheless, we are aware that 24 people have already started campaigning for the seat,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, reports say the NPP is shopping for a consensus candidate to win the by-election to be conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC) in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.

Mr. Ato Williams, a former President of the Young Executive Forum of the party, Maame Yaa Aboagye Deputy Communication Director, Madam Lylian Alhassan, the late Hon. Agyarko’s wife amongst others have expressed interest to represent the NPP in the by-election.
