About 270 Ivorians and Ghanaians resident in Cote d'Ivoire, fleeing the

conflict in that country, have arrived at Bole in the Northern Region.

The refugees fled through bush paths at Bole-Nsunna and the Bole-Chache

main border to Bole Mundari and Sanla. The Bole District Director of

Health Services has deployed a team of health officials to attend to the

refugees and returnees, most of who are women and children.

A contingent of military personnel from the Six Battalion of Infantry in

Tamale has also been deployed to patrol the area. Meanwhile the District

National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has begun a

house-to-house registration of the refugees at Mandan and Fanola.

According to the District Coordinator of NADMO Joseph Jando, the

organization has taken delivery of rice and cooking oil meant for the

refugees, and appealed to non-governmental organization to donate food

items and insecticides for their upkeep.
