A Senior Lecturer at the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana Prof Ransford Yaw Gyampo has taken to social media platform Facebook to lament the about the ills of our society.
He was lamenting about the revelation that the whole Ghana and Ghanaians have only 54 ambulances.
This follows the death of a 70 year old man who died after being refused admission to 7 major hospitals in the capital Accra due to lack of bed.
The respected academician posted:
“110 Ministers use 110 V8/ very expensive saloon vehicles.
275 Parliamentarians use 275 V8 vehicles
27 million Ghanaians have 54 ambulances”
A related development, Vice President of the republic of Ghana Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has made good his pledge of one constituency one ambulance by beginning the procurement of 275 ambulances from abroad for each of the 275 constituencies in Ghana.
The Vice President made the promise some weeks ago when he interacted with some Ghanaians at an event, where he expressed disappointment about the inadequacy of ambulances at the various hospitals.
The 275 ambulances are expected to arrive in a month or two.
