A 28-year-old Teacher from Akyem Oda, Essah Samuel, has allegedly committed suicide by taking a poisonous liquid substance at a hotel in Koforidua, the Eastern regional capital.

Samuel died at the Koforidua regional Government Hospital after he was rushed there for medical care by staff of the hotel.

The New Juaben Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Richardson Kumekor, confirming the incident to Starr News’ Eastern Regional Correspondent, Kojo Ansah, explained that an accountant at the hotel came to the station and reported that the teacher who was lodging at room 4 of the hotel was found vomiting and later fell unconscious.

He said investigators led by Lance Corporal Derick Kofi Owusu and Detective Inspector Edwin Segbefia Tetteh were dispatched to the Hospital for investigation.

Superintendent Kumekor added that Police attempted to interrogate the victim but were unsuccessful since he was recovering, however, he was pronounced dead the following day.

He said the Police on that fateful day also proceeded to the crime scene where they found a leftover rice which he ate and the poisonous liquid substance which was contained in a small Voltic bottle.

A statement has since been taken from the hotel authorities as investigation continues.

Meanwhile, the body is scheduled to be conveyed to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for autopsy.

Starr News source indicates that the deceased allegedly committed the act due to a failed relationship.

Family members have since trooped to Koforidua to avail themselves to Police for further collaboration.
