Solomon Asamoah, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), who is being prosecuted together with Prof Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, a former Board Chairperson of the fund, in the $2 million Accra Sky Train case, has finally been released on bail.

Prof Ameyaw-Akumfi was released on Monday, May 26, 2025, after he met the conditions of his GH¢10 million bail, but Solomon Asamoah, who was the first to be granted GH¢15 million bail, remained in the custody of the security authority after failing to meet the conditions of the bail.

According to GHOne TV, the embattled former GIIF Chief Executive Officer (CEO) was granted bail on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, after meeting all the conditions of the bail.

A video shared by the media house on X showed Solomon Asamoah walking out of the court with his lawyer.

The state charged the two men with six counts in connection with the failed Sky Train project, involving $2 million.

The state argues that even though $2 million was spent on the project, there is nothing to show for it.

Prof Ameyaw-Akumfi and Asamoah allegedly made the $2 million payment without the approval of the GIIF board.

The charges include: conspiracy to commit a crime, to wit, wilfully causing financial loss to the state; wilfully causing financial loss to the state; conspiracy to commit a crime, to wit, intentional dissipation of public funds; and intentional dissipation of public funds.
