More than 3,000 dual desks meant for distribution to 21 basic schools in two municipalities in the Greater Accra Region, have been left in the open at Amasaman, apparently abandoned, although they are new.

Some of the furniture which for the past four months has been subjected to the vagaries of the weather, has started to rot.

Mr Dan Adu-Yeboah, Assistant Director in charge of Statistics and Planning at the Ga West Municipal Education office, told the Times on Monday that the desks formed part of about 5,000 desks provided by the government at a total cost of GH¢80million.

He said his office has already distributed its share of 2,500, to beneficiary schools in the Ga West municipality and claimed that the remaining ones are for the Ga South municipality.

However, the Co-ordinating Director of Ga South Municipal Assembly, C.K. Marbel, has denied any knowledge of the desks.

Mr Marbel told the Times that those allocated to Ga South have been taken and duly distributed to schools in the area.

He said he is not aware if a new distribution list has been issued.
