The death of three supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Volta Region on Sunday October 23 as a result of an accident is enough sacrifice for the party to win the 2016 elections, Pius Hadzide, an aide to the flag bearer of the party has stated.

Over a dozen of the party’s supporters were involved in the crash. Several of them are in critical condition at the hospital. The drivers of the two vehicles that crashed are still unconscious.

Speaking about the accident on Class91.3FM’s Executive Breakfast Show on Monday, October 24, Mr Hadzide said the tragedy was a big blow to the party.

“Three lives [are] enough sacrifice for the victory of the NPP so that Ghana can be restored”.

He explained that if their deaths were “their cross to bear, if this is our own sacrifice, the role we have to play as a region to make sure that Ghana is restored and the comfort that Ghanaians seek which will definitely come under the able leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo, if this is the role that God had ordained and given to the Volta Region, then we the people of the Volta Region shall play our part”.

He maintained that Ghana’s independence was not achieved without sacrifices including the loss of life, hence, “if it is our part that we in the Volta Region should sacrifice our blood and sweat and toil, we are more than prepared to that”.

Mr Akufo-Addo’s aide called on all Ghanaians to join the NPP in prayers so that none of such incidents will be recorded in the run-up to the elections.

He maintained that the incident has “renewed our conviction and we may pay high prices, we may make ultimate sacrifices but that is our patriotic call and we are not perturbed”.

He indicated that the party is unfazed and their morale is high in anticipation of the 5-day tour by Nana Akufo-Addo in the Volta Region.
