A 38-year-old primary school teacher delivered quadruplets last week after 17 years of marriage without a child.

The two boys and two girls who were brought into the world at about 1400 hours on Friday are said to be in good health.

Mrs Eva Bediako, the proud mother of the babies, spoke to Ghana News Agency in an interview at Del-International Hospital in Accra on Sunday, saying she could not find words to express her joy.

According to her, she has been battling with infertility for the past 17 years until she was introduced to the hospital by a friend.

Mrs Bediako said she had since been on medication from February 2012 until she finally conceived.

“These are the results. I did not face any health challenge throughout my conception until I successfully delivered.”

Madam Rose Thompson, Matron of the hospital said the delivery of the quadruplets was the first of its kind since the inception of the medical facility two years ago.

She said the doctors detected triplets through scanning but it was during the delivery that they got to know of the fourth child.

Madam Thompson said the hospital has highly qualified doctors and other health professionals who are always ready to help couples who have infertility problems.
