The New Patriotic Party government led by President, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo is under pressure over fulfillment of three hundred and eighty-eight promises in the party’s manifesto, a political science lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Amakye Boateng has said.

The lecturer on a Kumasi based radio station monitored by mypurefmonline.com described those promises as vague and unnecessary.

“I hear the information Minister together with the vice president will give an account of 388 promises in Kumasi today. 388 promises really? what for? is it for the eight year period or first four years oh!. The three years has not even translated yet. Is Akufo Addo is a magician?. I’m surprised the minister said that. there’s too much pressure on the government and they need to act quickly to save their image. Again I’m not surprised because the president is seeking for 4 more years with his #4more4nana campaign”

“In principle town, hall meetings are very necessary – even the united states and United Kingdom wish to do the same. They have active offices where the people lodge complaints. ….But it’s different in our case. Government organised this meeting strategically in the Ashanti Region because it’s an election year and they need the people. They’ve done nothing in the Ashanti region to canvas votes from the people ” he shouted.

Dr. Amakye encouraged Ghanaians to take a keen interest in the promises the government claim.

“Government isn’t addressing Ashantis but Ghanaians at large. Today’s town hall meeting will be an interesting one. My rare self tells me if it will be on Television i’ll be able to make notes but once I attend I may not get the understanding. I’m yet to decide whether or not to attend” He added.
