The family of 4-year-old Clementina Owusuaah Agyei is seeking for justice for the little girl whose chances of survival and future hangs in the balance after alleged medical negligence at the Anglo Gold Ashanti (AGA) Hospital at Obuasi has worsened her condition.

Parents of the victim disclosed that she has practically lost all her senses following what was supposed to be a “simple” medical procedure at the Anglo Gold Ashanti (AGA) Hospital at Obuasi in the Ashanti region prior to her present state.

She is unable to see, hear, speak and walk, the once bubbly 4-year-old Clementina Owusuaah Agyei can now only feed via a tube inserted into her stomach through her abdomen and bound to a trolley since April 2018.

Naomi Oduro, her mother detailing the ordeal to Angel FM’s Kwame Tanko in a video interview obtained by MyNewsGh.com said she took Clementina to the AGA Hospital to undergo a scheduled surgery to remove a tumor that had developed at the back of her neck, she was later handed a dying daughter after several hours in the operating theater who needed to be rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi in order to save her life.

‘The official ambulance of the AGA hospital failed to convey us to Komfo Anokye since we couldn’t make the GHC500 outright payment requested by the hospital.’ Naomi said amid sobs.

She stated that it took the intervention of the National Ambulance Service to deploy an ambulance from Manso Agroyesum, a town more than 100km away from Obuasi to convey Clementina to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi around 3 AM at dawn.

Seven months after this tragic “medical accident”, the AGA Hospital is yet to make any official pronouncement on the matter despite several petitions by the family of Clementine.

They are pleading on the public and the Ministry of Health to help seek justice for the innocent girl whose chances of survival shrinks day in day out.

Attempts by MyNewsGh.com to speak to hospital authorities about the development proved futile with the explanation the matter is being investigated internally.
