4 yrs of Reign: 1999 - 2003

In April 26, 1999, Nana Kwaku Dua ascended the Golden Stool under the stool name Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to become the sixteenth Asantehene in direct succession to Opemsuo Osei Tutu I, the founder of the Asante Kingdom.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is the youngest of the five children born to Nana Afua Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, Asantehemaa (Queen Mother of Asante).

His father is Nana Boakye Dankwa of Nkyenkyire, a Branyia in the Atumtuo group (musketry bearers) of the Asantehene.
