Six Chinese National and 41 Ghanaians suspected illegal miners have been arrested by Operation Vanguard on Wednesday, October 24, 2018.
Five of the Chinese were arrested by FOB Central during operation conducted in Ankwaso in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Region.
The suspects were handed over to the Dunkwa Police Command pending their transfer to the Ghana Immigration Service.
Another suspect was arrested at Aboaboso at Wassa Akropong in the Amenfi East District of the Western Region.
The Ghanaians were also arrested at Kukua Village, Taluka, Ankobra, Enyinase, Salman, Eshiamu, Gwira, Shiamu and others in the Ezema East Municipality of the Western Region.
The suspects have been handed over to the Salman Police Command for further investigation.
FOB Ashanti also conducted two land patrols on the same day and arrested 10 suspects at Ohiayeya, Nyamebekyere, Kokotenten, Akrokerri, Kwapea, Odumasi in the Ashanti Region and have been handed over to Obuasi District Police Command.
FOB Western also replucated same operation at Nsuaem Top Town, a suburb in the Tarkwa Nsuaem municipality and arrested the 14 suspected Ghanaian illegal miners.
The suspects have been handed over to the Dompem Police Command for further investigations.
Items seized by Operation Vanguard
10 Vehicles, 16 Excavators, 5 Monitors, 7 Control Board, 62 Changfan Machines were destroyed, 16 Water pumping machines, 10 drums of fuel, 5 Metallic drums of Hydraulic oil, 5 Electronic fuel dispensers, 30 CCT Cameras, One Caterpillar, 30 BB Cartridges, included One Mossberg Pump Action gun.
