According to the University of Ghana’s Political Science Department report, 57% people who are ready to vote in Asuogyaman in next year’s presidential and parliamentary general elections want their NDC member of parliament Mr. Ampem Nyarko out of Parliament.

The UG’s political department on June 10, 2019 released an index performance of Ghana’s Parliamentarians.

According to the report, out of the 100% score from the Asuogyaman constituency, 33% voted for Mr Ampem Nyarko’s continuation while 57% voters want him to be changed and 10% yet to decide.

This gives a clear indication that the people of Asuogyaman want an alternative to the parliamentary representation offered by the current NDC MP.

Meanwhile two people have so far expressed serious interest to contest the Asuogyaman seat on the NPP ticket. These are Paul Asare Ansah and Kwame Adu Darkwah.

A thorough background check however brings out the name of one personality, Paul Asare Ansah as the one who is giving the NDC MP too much headache with his numerous development-oriented interventions that have won the hearts of majority of voters.

What appears to be changing the hearts of the people are his enormous support for education, alternative livelihood support for women, youth employment, various development projects as well as his direct assistance to communities and individuals in need. He has also kept an open-door policy for everyone in the constituency regardless of political background.

The research outcome seems to confirm the fact that the power base of the NDC in the constituency is rapidly changing colours with people from traditional NDC strongholds openly calling on NPP delegates to elect Paul Ansah for them to send to Parliament in 2020.

Certainly, events leading to election 2020 in Asuogyaman promise to be very interesting.
