The Police Administration has also dispatched men from the Rapid Response Unit and other specialized unites in Accra to complement the efforts of their Ashanti Region counterparts in fighting the crime wave.
Mr Ofosu-Mensah Gyeabour, the Regional Police Commander, said in a press release that the aim of the police was to clamp down on armed robbery, highway robbery, car theft and money laundering, among other crimes. According to Commander Gyeabour, another area of concern for the region?s police force was the use of registered vehicles and motorcycles in Kumasi.
The Regional Commander said these objectives could only be achieved with the full involvement and co-operation of the public. He urged landlords and hoteliers to monitor the movements of any tenants or lodgers who aroused their suspicions and to inform the police accordingly.
