6 dead, several others injured in renewed chieftaincy clashes at Kalampor

At least 6 persons including 3 children, a woman and two men are have been confirmed dead at Kalampor, a farming community in the East Gonja District of the Northern Region following renewed chieftaincy clashes in the area.

It was gathered that residents of the area were allegedly attacked by people of Kafaba on the early hours of Wednesday December, 6 2017 leading to the six deaths and dozens of injuries.

According to the Salaga District Police Commander, close examination of bodies of the deceased persons revealed they suffered severe gunshot wounds which believed to have resulted in their death.

It would be recalled that last year a similar incident happened in May which claimed 2 lives when the two communities clashed amidst sporadic shooting with several houses torched.

Meanwhile armed police personnel from Salaga, the district capital have been deployed to the scene to protect lives and ensure calm returns to the troubled community.
