Chaos has erupted at Offinso Technical Institute as students clash with Zongo youth
Six students have reportedly been hospitalised following a violent clash between students of Offinso Technical Institute and youth suspected to be from a nearby Zongo community.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, reportedly happened just hours after Eid prayers in the Offinso township in the Ashanti Region.
According to a report by adomonline.com on May 28, 2026, the confrontation is believed to have stemmed from a long-running feud between the two groups.
A teacher at the school, who spoke under condition of anonymity to the media, disclosed that tensions had been building for some time before the violence eventually broke out on campus.
However, the injured students are currently receiving treatment at St Patrick Hospital in Offinso, Maase.

The situation reportedly caused panic across the school, with several students fleeing the campus during the disturbances.
School authorities say some students could not immediately be accounted for following the clash.
According to the teacher, the suspected attackers also went on a rampage and vandalised school property during the incident.
“The suspected angry Zongo boys also destroyed glass windows, doors, and others at both our boys’ and girls’ dormitories as well as our housemaster’s residence,” the teacher stated.
The latest violence has sparked fresh concerns over student safety and rising tensions between some schools and surrounding communities.
Management of the school has since lodged an official complaint with the Ghana Police Service as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, school authorities and leaders of the Zongo community are said to have initiated discussions aimed at restoring calm and preventing further violence.
