Sixty-seven final year students of Osei Kyeretwie Secondary School have been suspended for failing to write their mock examinations.
The suspension is a provision of the schools code of conduct according to the headmaster, Mr. Kojo Opuni-Boachie.
He told a meeting of the PTA that according to the code, a student who failed to write an examination is first given a warning notice and then withdrawn from the school.
Opuni Boachie explained that since the students have only two weeks to write their examination, the suspension was the only alternative.
The headmaster said out of the sixty-seven students, thirty-eight are boys and twenty-nine are females.
He expressed dismay at the rate at which student of late are playing with their education and future at the time that the government is seriously ensuring efficiency and quality of education at all levels.
Mr. Boachie further stated that some of the students have used their schools fees rent places near the school without the knowledge of their parents. This is because the parents themselves do not the character of their own children.
The chairman of the school's PTA, Mr. D.K. Asamoah advised parents to educate wards with all zealousness and all resources instead of using their resources for their personal interest, which in most cases are irrelevant.
He further reminded them that education still remains the best asset a parent could give to their child and advised that they invest their money in their wards education.
Asamoah urged the students to study hard to enable them pass their examination with flying colours.
He therefore advised the students to desist from the act of buying question papers and also urged the parents and teaches to come together to fight against the leakage of question papers.
Asamoah appealed to the government and Ghana Education Service to re-institute the corporal punishment because that will instil discipline in students.
