7 More deputy ministers nominated

THE President, Mr J. A. Kufuor, has nominated seven more persons to be considered for appointment as deputy ministers.

The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and CPP member for Ellembelle, Mr Freddie Blay, read this from the President’s letter to Parliament at its sitting yesterday.

They are Mr Asamoah Boateng, Co-ordinator of the National Economic Dialogue, Deputy Minister of Information, Mr David Gyewu, an IT specialist, Deputy Minister of Communications and Mr Joe Akudibila, (Ind. Garu/Tempane), Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture.

Others are Mr Kofi Adusei, (NPP, Bekwai), Deputy Minister, Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs, Dr A.A. Osei, Special Assistant to the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning as Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Mr Ambrose Dery, a legal practitioner, Deputy Minister of Justice and Deputy Attorney General and Mr Charles Bimpong Bintin, Deputy Minister, Northern Region.

Dr Samuel Nii Ashong of the Centre for Policy Analysis (CEPA) has also been nominated for the position of Minister of State, Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning.

The President also requested Parliament to act on nominations of persons announced on Thursday for consideration as ministers of state.

They are Mr Alan Kyeremanteng, Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States of America who has been nominated for the position of Minister of Trade, Industry and Special Presidential Initiatives, Alhaji Mustapha Idriss Ali, Minister of Works and Housing, Nana Akomea, MP, Minister of Information.

Information available to the Graphic indicates that Mr Eddie Akita, Deputy Minsiter of Defence has been nominated for the position of Minister of State at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in-charge of Fisheries.
