Seven persons died instantly in an accident that occurred at Asitey in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region on Saturday, June 15.
The seven were parishioners of Santa Barbara Catholic Church in Akosombo. They were returning from a funeral at Akim Oda.
Police reports say the drivers of the Daewoo vehicle with registration number GV 2497-14 belonging to the Volta River Authority while descending the hill veered off and landed in a valley in a sharp curve after an alleged brake failure.
The seven are three males and four females.
Thirteen female adults, who sustained several degrees of injury, were rushed to the Atua Government Hospital and the St Martin de Porres Catholic Hospital for medical care.
Officers from the Ghana National Fire Service and residents helped in transporting the injured to hospital despite the non-availability of ambulances affecting the situation.
The seven deceased have been deposited at the Atua Government Hospital morgue.
