President Akufo-Addo has lauded the hardwork of the current Parliament describing it as the busiest in the 4th Republic.

Addressing the Members of Parliament during his State of the Nation Address on Thursday, February, 08, 2018, President Akufo-Addo expressed his appreciation to the Members of Parliament for speeding up with him in governance and helping bring to fruition some of his major policies implemented in the past year.

“I understand that since the inception of the 4th Republic, this, the 7th has been the busiest parliament. You’ve had a 140 days of sittings and I’m told no parliament in his first session has done more than 130 days. This is to the collective credit of members on both sides of the House and your respective leadership.”

In the process this, parliament has passed a number of bills relating to my flagship programmes. Again I’m told it’s the first in the 4th Republic, the flagship programmes and this case as many as five have been passed in the first year of government. I’m grateful and look forward to our continuing to work together to make our nation great and strong,” he stated.

Today’s Address is his second State of the Nation Address in Parliament, in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.

President Akufo-Addo is expected to itemise sector by sector the general health of the country and outline policies and programmes to facilitate the country’s socio-economic development in his second State of the Nation Address.

The sectors to be covered in the address include health, agriculture, education and energy among others.
